An older, shorter sample essay. It is short enough to show in full in the stream.

This essay is a sample. It is shorter than the October 20 essay, so the stream shows the whole piece. The longer sample is cut off, with a link to keep reading.

A made-up tension

Suppose two ideas are pulling in opposite directions. A real essay would name them and take a side. This one only marks the space: idea A on the left, idea B on the right, and a sentence in the middle that refuses to pretend it has settled anything.
